Pool maintenance

Common Problems of Pool Maintenance

We describe below the most common issues that can come up in a prefabricated fiberglass pool, as well as possible solutions.

Check reference tube

CAUSES

Water in reference tube due to rain or a raise of water table.

SOLUTIONS

Never empty the fiberglass pool without checking the reference tube.
Check periodically to prevent presence of water. Empty it by using a sump pump.

STAINS IN FIBERGLASS POOLS

CAUSES
Rust stains due to heavy material precipitations, acid attack by water.
Algae stains due to organic matter oxidation.

SOLUTIONS
Add anti-calcareous metal sequestrant.

FLOODED VAULT

CAUSES
Rain, leaks in the plumbing, filter cap or pump closed incorrectly.
Not checking the water table and/or reference tube.

SOLUTIONS
Check reference tube, extract the water, check the water entry, dry all electrical elements.

GREEN WATER

CAUSES
Green water: PH over 7.6, algae.

SOLUTIONS
Lower the PH to 7 or 6.8 with PH reducer.
Use a product without copper or aluminum sulphate, specific for fiberglass pools.
Use chlorine stabilizer.

TURBID WATER

CAUSES
Insufficient filtration.
Dirty filter or baskets.
Sand not washed as often as needed.

SOLUTIONS
Increase filtering time, clean filter, rinse sand.
Use the pool cleaner.

PUMP NOT WORKING OR NOISY

CAUSES
Lack of use (blockage).
Pump is wet. Air has come in.
Dirt saturation. Incorrect use of valves.

SOLUTIONS
Clean filters.
Set to recirculation if air has entered the pump.

PERSISTENT DIRT

CAUSES
If it dissolves, dirt is due to rain, dust, etc.
If it does not dissolve, broken filter nozzles.
Or environmental dirt.

SOLUTIONS
Add flocculant product.
Use the pool cleaner with the valve selection in waste position.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED TO CHANGE SAND OR GLASS

CAUSES
Tear and wear of the sand.
Cannot get water into optimal condition.

SOLUTIONS
Change the sand maximum every 5 years.

FIBERGLASS POOL MAINTENANCE
DURING WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS

CAUSES
Due to water evaporation, the pool level can go below the skimmer level and air may enter the circuit.

SOLUTIONS
Activate system with filter (open), skimmer (closed) and cleaner (closed).

SHOWER DRIPS WATER OR WATER DOES NOT COME OUT

CAUSES
The tap is not closing correctly, element wear, loose shower.
The key is closed.

SOLUTIONS
*Call DTP Pools technical support line at 91 817 18 18.
Open the shower circuit to get water in.

CLEAN SALINE SYSTEM CELLS

CAUSES
Dirt due to lime.

SOLUTIONS
Cut a plastic bottle in half and add: 1st water 2/3, 2nd etching 1/3, introduce the cells and wait for 10’

INCORRECT CONSERVATION OF
WINTER AND SUMMER COVER

CAUSES
Storing the winter cover when wet or using the saline chlorination system with the cover on. Using summer cover with the saline chlorination system on.
Bubble surface in opposite direction to water.

SOLUTIONS
Once the winter cover has been removed, it must be dried and stored in a dry place. Turn off the saline chlorination system while the summer cover is on. Bubble surface must face the water. At the end of the season, dry and store.
